There are some days when I start to hate the ways of the online world, and Colin (who’s used to work with me over the Equator SEO company and is now working for himself over at Boyd Digital) just posted about the hassles and pains he’s been having with Yell. Basically wasting his time with [...]

I’ve just logged into Google Analytics, and found a new option just below the dashboard option listed as Intelligence Beta. Can’t find anything about it on the Google Blog
It would appear to allow the functionality to set trigger points for the website in relation to the traditional Google Analytics metrics and dimensions. It [...]

Over at Ambergreen they did a blog piece on return on investment etc. Nice enough little piec, makes sense, nothing to make me disagree it’s nice (damned by faint praise I know). Anyway towards the end of it they user the term “cost per influence” and I have no idea how on earth you measure [...]

For a couple of weeks I feel like I need a change. Moving away more and more from concentrating on making money for other people to making money for myself. I enjoy my work whether it be online marketing consultancy here @ Mercury Thread or my full time day job @ Equator (where we have [...]
As I’ve been off ill for couple of weeks I’ve been trying, mostly unsuccesfully to stay away from my PC. I did vow not to blog whilst at home – something I managed far too well for my own good I’m sure.

I’m not on google.com very often – most of my clients work in google.co.uk as their main traffic driver (as they’re in the UK) but today I was running some tests in google.com and I started to get different lopoking result sets:
So the bit in red is the part where I could refine my result [...]

Dear god I cant take it. Sometimes I just wish that SEO’s didnt have to ‘piss in every fountain‘. Sometimes SEO is crass and nasty and kills the entire usefulness of the content. Other times it makes me laugh so hard I fear for my bodily inegrity:
See http://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonybaxter
SEO is mentioned 254 times (19.48% Keyword Density)*
I know [...]

Always liked the ring of that phrase. Far better than ‘Hi, how are you?’. Anyway have been running about the web trying to work out WTF Google has been upto recently – results are so screwey its half cock up (think Chris Iwelumo against Norway) and half comedy show (Homer Simpson’s been left in charge [...]
